Health workforce management

Context

According to United Nations International Children Emergency Funds (UNICEF), Nigeria accounts for 10% of the global maternal death (576 per 100,000) with the poor outcome being fuelled by a lack of skilled birth attendants (SBA) in facilities.

To effectively manage this there is a need to ensure increased production of quality health workers and targeted deployment to sub-optimal facilities especially in the rural area.

SCIDaR is in a consortium with Banyan Global, Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI), and Abt Associates to ensure the establishment of a robust, well trained  human resource for health

Project objective

To support the Federal Ministry of Health and State Governments to establish a cost-effective, well-trained and motivated health workforce in targeted rural and remote areas through a strengthen pre-service health training learning environment and strengthen governance and management of the health workforce
